The hosts of Holly Bush Hideaway

The Lloyds

Holly Bush Farm is a third-generation, small family tenant farm, run by Nigel, with Hannah and our twins, Joshua and Grace, and our dogs, Cusco and Dougie.

We farm, sheep, cattle including some pedigree Aberdeen Angus and pigs all of which supply a mixture of outlets.

We truly appreciate the beauty and environmental value of the farming countryside and pride ourselves on the work we do in partnership with DEFRA, Natural England and Wildlife trusts, to do our best to enhance the natural world.

We have been greatly inspired by joining Clee View farmers, a local group of like-minded farmers all based within the geographic region of Clee Hills who are keen on protecting and enhancing the natural environment.

We have embraced regenerative farming practices with the ambition to increase soil carbon, decrease emissions and reduce artificial fertiliser use, all while improving and making best use of our natural capital (streams, ponds, hedgerows and trees) on the farm.

The corner stone of this approach is the livestock with the pigs providing valuable nutrients for the soil in their manure and the grassland which the sheep and cattle graze; fixing nitrogen, improving soil structure and providing habitats for insects, birds and small mammals.

Going forwards, at the heart of our ethos is our aim to get people to understand and share in this enhanced natural environment by coming to our farm and staying at Holly Bush Hideaway.

“Honestly, this is one of the best airbnb I have stayed in. The value for money is incredible! Hannah makes sure everything is provided and adds lovely little touches like the marshmallows. The outside tub is amazing, such a peaceful and relaxing stay!”

Our farm through the seasons

Spring is one of the busiest times on the farm as we are lambing and calving and drilling spring cereals, so expect to see lots of new life on the farm and hear ewes and lambs in the fields.

Summer sees the crops being harvested and lots of fieldwork while the livestock are mostly outside.

Autumn is a busy time preparing for housing the livestock and getting any crops drilled in the ground, while the sheep go to the tups ready for lambing in the spring.

Winter sees the cattle housed and a lot of time tending to the livestock and feeding the conserved grass, produced back in the spring and summer.
